Hi - I’m Erica and I’m running my first marathon this year!

Follow along my journey to 26.2 in New York City while I raise money to help fund schools in other countries!

I’ve been on vacation for the past week but still managed to get some short runs in along the boardwalk! 🏖️

June is coming to a close and I’m incredibly close to reaching my goal of $1,000 by the end of the month! I’m $67 shy of that goal with three days left. Can you spare a couple of bucks to help me? Donate at the link above or Venmo with a note for PoP ✏️

✏️ I’m clearly terrible with updates on here BUT I’m so close to raising $1,000 for Pencils of Promise!!

✏️ In order to reach that goal I’m doing a giveaway. When you make a donation of any amount on the bingo board below (or Venmo the money and I will donate on your behalf) you will be entered to win a $75 Amazon Gift Card!

✏️ What’s better than a shopping spree earned by helping others?!

Marine Corps Historic Half was such a fun experience! Crossing the finish line alongside Marines was pretty cool. I went into this race with two goals:

1. Conquer Hospital Hill⛰️
2. Don’t get swept 🏃🏻‍♀️

And both of those were achieved🏅Training for a full marathon is no joke, but I’m so glad I get to do fun races along the way. Donations to my NYC fundraiser can be made at the link above! Any amount helps make a difference 🫶🏼

Looking back at the Alexandria Half Marathon, even though I didn’t hit the exact goal I wanted I still nailed some pretty cool personal bests!!! I think my favorite part of this whole journey has been finding out I’m capable of more than I’ve imagined. I can’t wait to see how the next few months go 🥰🤩🥳

2026 Alexandria Half Marathon 🌸

When I started this race the goal was a sub 3 hour finish. By mile 11 it all started to go downhill. My headphones died, I started feeling sick, I was sure I was going to collapse before finishing. I started panicking…I had never felt like that before. The thing about running is that you must listen to your body. So I slowed down. I was upset about not being under 3 hours, BUT this was still a PR time for me! Considering I’ve been sick for the past three weeks I’d say that just crossing that finishing line was a win.

All in all my first race on the way to the NYC Marathon was a success. I can’t wait to keep training and watch these times shift even more. Pretty soon I’ll hit that sub 3 hour half marathon that I’m chasing.

First race of the season is this weekend!!!! I can’t wait to start crossing more races off my list as I head into the NYC Marathon! Let’s just hope that this upper respiratory/sinus infection that’s been bugging me for two weeks now clears out by Sunday! 🤞🏼🏃🏻‍♀️🫣

It was Marathon Monday last year that I started thinking about running a marathon. The videos from Boston made me so emotional. An entire community coming together to cheer on strangers. Strangers helping strangers cross the finish line. I can’t wait to be a part of that in New York this year. Help me be a part of that community by donating to my fundraiser!

Sometimes training runs don’t go as planned. The goal for today was 11 miles but around mile 3 I started to feel sick so I decided to turn around and cut it short. I felt terrible cutting a long run short, especially when my next race is in three weeks, but that’s just the reality of training! 11 miles will have to wait to another day.
