Want to know how to survive the holidays?

🦃 Soak in the time with your friends + family and be present with them.

👉🏼 One meal isn’t going to set you back just like one meal didn’t get you to the point where you wanted to make a change.

🎄 Enjoy the moment, enjoy the time and enjoy the company. Holidays are meant to be celebrated!

Been doing the same workout program for a while but not seeing any results?

Maybe it's you and not the workout 👀Yep I said it.

If you are just showing up every day, that isn't enough. You have to not only show up, but you have to do the work. You have to try and you have to put in effort.

❓So what does that look like? Dripping in sweat? Not necessarily.

⭐️It looks like this
👉🏼Actively moving through your exercises. Creating mind muscle connections and visualizing how your muscle is performing the movement.
👉🏼Finding the weight/the tempo/the range of motion that challenges you. Been using 10s for a while? Grab the 12s, see how it feels.
👉🏼Discipline. Commitment. Determination. No one ever said it was going to be easy or wouldn’t take time. You have to work even when you don't want to. That doesn't mean just taking the class or doing the workout. It means performing it as well.

But in all seriousness, if you want to lose body fat don’t over complicate it.

👉🏼You can lift weights, you can build strength and you can increase muscle WITHOUT getting bulky.

👉🏼Remember that cardio may burn a lot of calories in the moment but that’s it. Once your done, the calorie burn is also done. Strength training may not give you the highest calorie burn during your workout, but your muscles will continue to work and burn after.

👉🏼Focus on what you are putting into your body. You don’t have to track all of your macros, but you should be aware of what’s going in the same way we obsess on what is going out (calorie burn).

👉🏼If you want to start tracking your nutrition, start by focusing on your total calories and protein intake to start.

👉🏼But also. Let’s remember that no matter how many crunches we do, we aren’t going to get a six pack by doing them.

👉🏼And also. Your calories should probably be higher than what that nutrition tracking app who has no information about your lifestyle is generating for you.

It starts today❗️

If I don’t put it out there and down in writing, I won’t keep myself accountable to stick to training, so here it is: I’m running the virtual fairytale challenge (10k + half marathon in one weekend!) in February!

Here’s what my training is going to look like:

🧘🏻‍♀️Monday - active recovery day - walk, mobility/stretching or light yoga
🏋🏻‍♀️Tuesday - Pappas Fit Lower Body Strength
🏃🏻‍♀️Wednesday - 30 minute run
🏋🏻‍♀️Thursday - Pappas Fit Full Body Strength
🏋🏻‍♀️Friday - Pappas Fit Upper Body Strength
🏃🏻‍♀️Saturday - medium distance run
🏃🏻‍♀️Sunday - long distance run

👉🏼 since the 10k + half marathon are back to back, I want to mimic this in my training and get myself used to that feeling!
👉🏼 if I need a second rest day, I’ll take it on Thursday and make Tuesday + Friday both full body strength days.
👉🏼 it’s been over a year and a half since I’ve run consistently so I’ll be starting with VERY short distances and working myself up to the 6.2 + 13.1 miles!
👉🏼 no time goals here. Just wanna stick to a training plan and enjoy it!
👉🏼 making myself post an update once a week on training even if I’m the only one reading it. The public accountability is for myself 😊

Really just hoping on this Monday that the mums I put in my front planters don’t die by the end of the week. That and that I stick to my training routine this week 😬

I knew being a mom it would be tough to stick to my training. Some weeks I hit every workout and sometimes I hit none. Honestly perfectly ok with it but still want to find a way to balance that out a little more. So here’s what I am doing to help my training schedule:

👉🏼looking at the week ahead of time and preparing for anything out of the ordinary
👉🏼scheduling my workout time into my agenda
👉🏼being ok with getting in 30 min vs 45-60 min
👉🏼using the Pappas fit app to make sure my workouts stay focused and efficient

Now if anyone with a green thumb out there wants to give me some fall gardening tips, I’m all ears. 👂🏼
