Offering a dynamic vinyasa yoga practice for all levels

12/02/2024

Mark your calendar Friends, Sunday December 29 Bhakti Yoga DC

Come experience the quiet practice of Yin with a special guest: certified sound healer Anne Menotti will be providing a relaxing healing sound bath.

Yin yoga and sound healing are practices that offer a range of benefits for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

When combined, Yin yoga and sound healing create a powerful synergy. The deep stretching and relaxation of Yin yoga prepare the body for sound healing, which, in turn, enhances the meditative and emotional benefits of the yoga practice. Together, they support deep relaxation, emotional release, and a heightened sense of connection to oneself.

Join us on 12/29 at Bhakti Yoga DC from 5:45-7:00 pm for an unforgettable experience of sound healing during the quiet practice of Yin.

Reflect and meditate: You are not this body. You are so much more. God did not create you to be anchored in the material world. What are you rooted in? What are your values? Choose to anchor the self on things far greater than the temporary, material nature of this world.

Bhakti Yoga DC Teacher Sharing | Why Yoga? 💛

“Yoga allows me an opportunity to retreat inside… allowing me to come into alignment with myself. Where I am able to use the mat as my mirror, and see introspectively where I want to go from here - and I get to do that every single time that I step onto the mat.”

Take a journey, and “retreat inside” with Ingrid – online, or in-person during one of her nourishing Restorative Yoga classes offered every week at Bhakti Yoga DC. https://www.bhaktiyogadc.com/classes

Restorative Yoga 🪷
Enjoy a simple unwinding using blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters to support the body. Allow gravity to do most of the work as we hold each asana for a while. Relaxing and letting go is a necessary art for all.

I am so grateful. I received the sweetest thank you card from my clients at the Spanish Catholic Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Most may not be aware but at Bhakti Yoga DC, its a community beyond a yoga studio. Bhakti recently acquired a non-profit organization called Anahata International. As a service we provide free yoga, pranayama (breath work), and meditation to overlooked and vulnerable communities in DC.

Prior to the pandemic, we were teaching at homeless shelters, substance abuse recovery homes, and to staff that works with these vulnerable and often overlooked and marginalized communities.

While it's not safe to go back into the shelters (and I miss my clients there) it has been a blessing to share my practice with the social workers, doctors, and dentists, and all staff that work to help families in need in DC at the Spanish Catholic Center.

Yesterday we celebrated Madiba's birthday and in the words of the great Nelson Mandela:

"Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like Slavery and Apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. YOU can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom."

How will your actions create the world you envision? It only takes one small act of kindness. Start wherever you are. Start building the world you want to see today. It all begins with you.

Join us for a special virtual Shakti circle on Sunday May 3, 2020 from 2-4 pm. Connecting to our communities is an essential practice during this time. Let’s honor the Divine feminine and hold space for each other as we share and continue to build a community of light bringers. This month our focus will be on sustainability. Also drawing from the energy of the new moon and the energy of the upcoming full moon we will set intentions and release what no longer serves us.

There will be a guided meditation, kriya breath work, we will also set intentions, and share some of our restoration and self-care practices.

You will need to sign up through the Mindbody app, look for Bhakti Yoga DC. Also the suggested donation is $10, all of the proceeds go to Muskan (2nd picture) which I had the pleasure of meeting in November in India. In order to make a donation, please visit http://www.bhaktiyogadc.com/
