Great moment getting to tie a blue belt around Andrew Betz 🎉💙 Betz came in as a formidable wrestler, but has truly become a well-rounded, technical, and resilient grappler. He can kick ass from standing, top, bottom, and everywhere in between, but more than that, is an exemplary human and an incredible addition to the Underworld family. We're lucky to have you, Betz! Over the last few weeks, our Kids BJJ students have been eagerly awaiting the results from the sorting quiz they took to be placed into Houses (heavily inspired by )

Today, they finally learned what the fates had in store for them at our sorting ceremony at Lincoln Park!! Will it be House Ares, the fearsome god of war? 💥 House Artemis, our electrifying goddess of the hunt? 🌙 Or House Athena, the shrewd goddess of wisdom and strategy? 🧠

Students will earn points for their houses in team challenges centered around all the ways martial arts can change kids' lives: resilience, focus, respect, humility, bravery, and more. And we hope that the Houses will bring our community ever closer and create long lasting friendships among all our students. 🩵

Huey has been training jiu jitsu for 5 months now and is one of the funniest, most confident, and all-around incredible kids in our program. He recently won 6 awards of excellence at school and talks about how helped him achieve this amazing accomplishment. So proud of you, Huey!! 🔥

Expectations vs reality at grappling industries last month 🤪

DC had no natural predators until showed up to Grappling Industries 😤🤧🔥

Our first official team tournament put us on the map, taking #8 in overall adult teams, while only competing in the no gi division (and this was before they even calculated all of our wins at the end of the day). Plenty of hardware to take home, plenty of match footage to study, and plenty of time to get back to work before the next one ⚔️ Couldn't be prouder to be a part of this team.
