Frederic survived, albeit a bit waterlogged, a gorgeous ride at the Wilderness Road Ride Gran Fondo. He covered 100 miles with over 8600’ of elevation gain 🤯 amd didn’t freeze in the process! 🥶

This weekend was another big one! Jake traversed 50 miles in the Florida Keys on foot while battling heat and more heat
Chong raced the Chattanooga 70.3 and also managed the heat well to finish in less than 6h
Nick nailed pacing and nutrition and had a banner day at the Marine Corps Historic Half, posting his fastest 5 mile through 1/2M times along the way

Four athletes are competing in four very different events this weekend
Jake is running the flat and straight Keys 50 ultramarathon. This is his first attempt at the distance and second race ever
Nick is racing the Marine Corps Half, which features Hospital Hill in the back half of the course
Chong heads south to Chattanooga 70.3 as a stepping stone to a full later this summer
Michelle is heading north to Independence Olympic Triathlon to check out her fitness before her main event coming soon

🚨Medal Monday Alert! 🚨 🥇🥈🥉 Better late than never with two weeks of great results to share!
Last weekend, Laura P ran her fastest 10-miler in a long time at the Broad Street 10-Miler. It was a fast day with 40,000 BRFs (Best Running Friends)
Coach Joanne battled cold, rainy conditions and a halved bike leg at the White Lake Half to take 2nd in the Advanced division
Mary’s race at the Maryland Freedom swim was also halved due to cold and wind but she had a great race prep swim for later in the season
Frederic beat his goal of 1:50 at the Pittsburgh ½ Marathon, after coming back from a calf strain and while running with his son
This weekend, Bailey slid in to a ParkRun! And ran her fastest 5k eve
Nicole (and her husband) ride the Medio route at Agony in the Alleghenies
The Kinetic Triathlon Festival hosted David & Mary in the Olympic triathlon, Elise in the Olympic aquabike, and David (again!) in the Sprint triathlon. Great results were achieved by all, including AG podiums by David in both Oly & Sprint and Mary in the Oly
Becca trudged to the Rasyern Shore to participate in Six Pillars Metric Century (+)
Nick raced the Nova 5k and three Dow another great result
John had a day at the Freight Train 100k and turned in his best time at the distance

This is undoubtedly the biggest, busiest weekend of racing yet this season! Let’s hear it for all the Aspire athletes who are swimming, cycling, and running all over the region. Let’s go!

Four athletes started two different races this weekend and it was a successful campaign for everyone
Jocelyn threw down one of her fastest run legs at General Smallwood Olympic Triathlon after a run-focused spring
Michelle made her season and Aspire debuts and persevered despite logistical mishaps, however the physical form was there
At the PNC Alexandria Half Marathon, Laura M ran a strong race despite being sick for a week after Cherry Blossom
Despite a week of lousy sleep, Kate sped to her fastest half marathon in a decade!

Today we were able to walk (and run) through both clean and dirty transitions before most athletes are slated to race this season. Getting to practice this skill is so valuable and can sometimes be the difference between getting a podium spot or not!
