šŸŒļøā€ā™‚ļø I might not be Jack Nicklaus on the course (yet šŸ˜‰), but I definitely hope I’m still out there swinging when I’m his age! Watching Jack (84), Gary Player (88), and Tom Watson (75) tee off to open The Masters is hands down my favorite part of the tournament. They may not be crushing it like they did in their prime, but they’re still showing up—and that’s the whole point.

That’s why I keep showing up, too. Most days you’ll find me in the weight room (because muscle matters, especially in midlife), but I still make room for cardio—gotta keep the ticker ticking and the legs climbing!

So today it was me, the StairMaster, and The Masters on TV. Sweating it out one step at a time while daydreaming about fairways and greens. Not a bad way to spend a cardio day.

What are you doing today to make sure you’re still in the game—and loving life—down the road?

Back at the Gym – Take 2!

Many of you might remember that I rejoined my gym of 20+ years at the start of January. I was in a good rhythm, showing up consistently, feeling strong. But today was my first day back since January 29th—not because life got too busy, not because I lost motivation—nope, I got sick.

And I mean really sick. The kind where walking down the stairs felt like a workout. My first one-mile dog walk didn’t happen until February 10th.

At first, I tried to will it away. I told myself, Maybe if I just back off the workouts but keep everything else going, I’ll be fine. Spoiler alert: that didn’t work. After four days of pushing through, my body said, Sit down and stay. So that’s what I did.

Recovery was slow. My first walk left me needing a nap. The next few days were the same—small effort, big fatigue. But today, I finally woke up feeling human again. So off I went—to the gym!

I made it through my full routine, and let me tell you—it felt hard, like I was starting from ground zero again. But you know what? That’s OK. We all start somewhere, whether it’s our first day, our first day back, or just a season where things feel tougher than usual. What matters is showing up.

Here’s what this experience reminded me—especially as a woman in midlife:

āœ”ļø Listen to your body. It’s easy to think we can push through, but sometimes our bodies have other plans.
āœ”ļø Give yourself grace. Resting wasn’t ā€œlosing progress.ā€ It was part of the process.
āœ”ļø Accept help. My husband and kids stepped up with groceries and dinners, and while it was hard for me to let go, I needed it. (Why do we, as women, struggle so much with this?!)

Funny enough, the last time I was this sick was January 2022—16 days of it. Maybe the universe is reminding me (again) to slow down when needed.

So, if you’re in a season where you need rest—take it. The gym, the workouts, the to-do lists… they’ll be there when you’re ready. šŸ’›

Anyone else struggle with accepting help? Let me know in the comments! ā¬‡ļø

What if I told you NOT lifting weights could cost you your mind?
🧠
🧠
🧠

A 44-year study of 1,462 women found that those with high midlife cardiovascular fitness had an 88% lower risk of dementia and delayed its onset by 10 years compared to women with moderate fitness. 🤯

And here’s the kicker: lifting heavy isn’t just for building strong bones and muscles—it’s incredible for your heart, the most important muscle of all. ā¤ļø

Imagine if there were a pill that could do all of this. Would you get in line for it? Guess what? You already have the power to take it—through movement.

šŸ’” Strength training doesn’t just boost your health and longevity—it can also reduce menopause symptoms like hot flashes and give you the strength to take on life (and those heavy grocery bags šŸ˜‰).

It’s time to take control of your future. If you fail to prepare, prepare to be frail. Let’s build strength for life together. šŸ’Ŗ

She thought she was doing everything right.

✨ Swapped out pop for water.
✨ Chose salads instead of burgers.
✨ Hit the gym whenever her schedule allowed.

And yet, her energy was low, her clothes felt tighter, and that stubborn weight just wouldn’t budge.
Sound familiar?

The truth is, ā€œeating healthyā€ and working out don’t always mean your body is getting what it really needs—especially in your 30s, 40s, and beyond, when hormones and metabolism start to shift.

That’s where the 28-Day Transformation Group Coaching Cohort comes in. This program teaches you how to work with your body and fuel it in ways that deliver real results—not just another diet or endless workouts.

If you’re tired of spinning your wheels and feeling stuck, this is your chance to reset, refocus, and feel amazing again.

šŸŽµ So don’t be surprised to see me back in that bright part of town
I’ll be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
I’ll be back in the high life again

šŸ’ŖāœØ Home, Sweet Gym āœØšŸ’Ŗ

After some time away, I’ve rejoined the gym I called home from December 2001 to March 2022. Walking through those doors felt like a heartwarming dĆ©jĆ  vu—memories of workouts, setting new goals, and even my kids growing up in the daycare came flooding back. And yes, I even parked in the same spot (because let’s be real, losing your car is the last thing you need after leg day! šŸ˜‚).

While my home workouts have been fantastic, I’ve officially outgrown my weights and decided it’s time to level up! šŸ’„ I’m so excited to take on new strength goals this year and can’t wait to get back in the pool. šŸŠā€ā™€ļø

This step forward reminds me of why I created the Strong for Life Workouts. Whether you’re working out at home or in the gym, these quick, effective routines (as little as 15 minutes a day!) are designed to help women in midlife build strength, stay consistent, and feel amazing—on your own terms.

Fitness is about finding what works for you—at home, at the gym, or a mix of both. The most important thing is showing up for yourself, embracing the journey, and celebrating every step forward.

Here’s to a strong start to 2025, heavier lifts, and deeper dives into the pool of possibility. šŸ’ŖāœØ

What’s a fitness goal you’re working on this year? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to cheer you on! šŸ™Œ

šŸ’« Hi, I’m Jen, and I’m so glad you’re here (I know there are some new faces around here so I wanted to re-introduce myself)! As a midlife woman myself, I’m on this journey with you, facing the same challenges and celebrating the same wins. I believe it’s never too late to feel strong, confident, and fully at home in your body. šŸ’Ŗ For women over 50, fitness isn’t about endless hours at the gym or restrictive diets—it’s about creating sustainable changes that work with your body, lifestyle, and goals.

Through my Strong for Life programs—and especially my 28-Day Challenge—I help women move away from restrictive diets and embrace what I call the *ā€œun-dietā€* approach. Imagine finally finding food freedom: fueling your body in a balanced way without counting calories, depriving yourself, or feeling guilty. In the Challenge, we work together to rebuild your relationship with food, focusing on nourishing, sustainable choices that support energy, strength, and a healthy metabolism. 🌱

In my programs, we skip the ā€œno pain, no gainā€ mentality and focus on real fitness that builds strength, boosts confidence, and leaves you feeling energized and empowered—not exhausted. No burpees, no crunches, and no ā€œone-size-fits-allā€ solutions. It’s about movement that fits your life and prepares your body for the future, all while enjoying the foods you love.

Alongside my coaching, I also host the Fit News podcast, where I share interviews and insights with experts who help midlife women live their best lives without scams or fads. šŸŽ™ļø Fit News is all about real advice for real women, empowering you to live confidently and make choices that work for you.

šŸ’„ And here’s a little secret: the next 28-Day Challenge is launching soon! If you’re ready for strength, food freedom (never diet again), and sustainable results, stay tuned for details!

Here’s what some of my clients say about the experience:

ā€œJen’s workouts are flexible and fit right into my busy life with family and work commitments. But what I love most is her focus on being Strong for Life, not just a short-term challenge. Jen is truly invested in our well-being.ā€ — Jennifer, Strong for Life participant

ā€œJen helped me completely shift my mindset around food and fueling. It’s not about willpower; it’s about strength and balance. My healthier, stronger self is so much better for it!ā€ — Janine, 28-Day Challenge

If you’re new here, drop a šŸŒŽ and let me know where you’re following from!šŸ‘‡ Can’t wait to get to know you and support you on this path to strength, food freedom, and confidence.
