Have you spotted our new mural? We’re now wearing our heart on our walls. 💙 Rooted in ahimsa, community, and joy, our living practice has now come alive across the front of our building—thanks to the talented Chelsea Ritter-Soronen (). It’s a love letter to this neighborhood, to the natural world, and to everyone who has walked into Past Tense looking for connection, belonging, or a quiet moment to breathe.

Next time you come in for class - morning, noon, or night - pause and check out this incredible mural, reminding us of the beauty of our interconnected community.

THIS FRIDAY JANUARY 30TH 2026, Mount Pleasant’s main street small businesses are speaking out in a coordinated way to stand with solidarity with our immigrant neighbors, friends, family and community. This event will benefit and support AYUDA () a nonprofit providing comprehensive, low-cost or free legal, social, and language services to low-income immigrants in DC, Maryland, and Virginia, including many of the hospitality workers who make our neighborhood thrive. This event is in lieu of a participation in the national shutdown.

Each participating small business will be donating a portion of Friday’s sales to AYUDA.

✨ Speak out
✨ Shop with purpose

Mount Pleasant is more than a neighborhood. It’s a home fueled by diversity and sustained by immigrants and resilience. Many are feeling powerless in this moment, but this collaboration is a tangible way for our community to come together – neighbors, small business owners, immigrants, citizens – stronger together.

Paws, breathe, repeat 🐾 Here are some of the studio’s best fur-iends, because pets are part of the community too—and honestly, goals in fur form. They really get the practice: no past, no future, just now (especially when snacks are involved)

Thank you for another year of showing up, on and off the mat. Keep those pet pics coming—we love seeing the ones who make the practice look effortless—and we’ll add them to our stories.
