โจ Coach Highlight: Michele Barbone!โจ
Michele has been coaching for over a year now, but is finally getting her highlight!
๐ ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐: I donโt have one favorite movement, but I do tend to like movements that others despise, such as overhead squats and double unders. On the flip side, I absolutely hate deadlifts.
๐๐ถ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐: I began shortly after I graduated from college. I was looking for a competitive outlet after my soccer career ended. It started with sprint tris and road races until I found my way into a CrossFit box in April 2010. I received my Level 1 certificate in November 2011 and have been coaching ever since.
๐๐ผ๐ฎ๐น๐: Maintain my strength and fitness. I have set numbers that I want to always be able to hit, no matter what, just to keep my overall strength. After years of competing at higher levels, Iโm very happy to just enjoy my workouts and help others hit their own fitness and movement goals.
๐ช๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ: Definitely dependent on my mood, but it will almost always include late 90s/early 00s hip-hop. Favorite workout song is Look At Me Now by Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Busta Rhymes. It can also vary depending on what Iโm doing. I love a more fast-paced playlist for metcons, while Iโm more likely to listen to country or something more chill while Iโm lifting.

This Veterans Day, weโll be honoring our veterans by taking on โChadโ โ a hero workout that brings the fitness community together each year in memory of Navy SEAL Senior Chief Chad Wilkinson, who lost his life in 2018 due to the invisible wounds of war. ๐ช๐๏ธ
Weโll have two class times available on Veterans Day:
9:00-11:00 AM
5:00-7:00 PM
Members will have up to 2 hours to complete the workout.

About the Workout
โChadโ was created to honor Senior Chief Wilkinson and to raise awareness about the challenges veterans face, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI), blast-wave injuries, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Each year, athletes nationwide complete this workout to support The Step Up Foundation, which works to change the narrative around veteran su***de and expand awareness about these injuries.
Gear Notes
The weight is traditionally a ruck (weighted backpack).
If you have a weighted vest, that works perfectly!
Otherwise, bring an empty backpack โ weโll help load it with slam balls.
You can also hold a weight, though itโs a tougher option.
