The 2022 Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic will be hosted at the Walter E. Washington Convention Cente
CHC is a qualifier-style event for 900+ teams that want to be part of a big, qualifier-like event with great competition. CHC does not award “bids” to winners of divisions for qualification into other events. However, CHC results do assist a team in building up their competition profile for entry consideration into other national events.

He built a volleyball power on optimism. He’s fighting cancer the same way.
As we head towards the 2023 event, we are sharing an article released today in the Washington Post about Director/CEO Barry Goldberg and his current battle with stage 4 cancer.
The CHVC family is looking forward to continuing the work that Barry has done in the nation's capitol and we are extremely grateful for all of your love & support.
He built a volleyball power on optimism. He’s fighting cancer the same way. Given a terminal diagnosis, Barry Goldberg went back to work at American University.

The Capitol Hill Story
The Capitol Hill Classic is a volleyball tournament held over Presidents’ Day Weekend in Washington D.C. that hosts 900+ teams. This big, qualifier-like event with top competition has been labeled “A Main Event” by PrepVolleyball.com. The Classic results assist teams in building up their competition profile for entry consideration into other national events.
History
The first Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic was held over Presidents’ Day weekend at the Washington Convention Center (WCC) in February 2007. On that weekend, 144 teams registered and played on 18 courts in Hall C alongside the annual Boat Show. The tournament consistently grew by 100 teams, year after year. In addition to hosting teams from all over the United States, the Classic has hosted teams from as far away as China, Holland, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
In 2020, the event accepted 968 teams and set up 122 courts in the WCC. The Capitol Hill Classic in Washington, DC is now the largest youth volleyball tournament in the world over Presidents’ Day weekend. Any juniors team that wants to participate and is registered with its appropriate USAV organization, can apply for acceptance. Results from the event assist a team in building up their competitive profile for entry consideration into other national USA events.
