Hey fam, this is Kristine, one of the moderators of this group. I’ve lived in DC for over 16 years now, 15 of which has been as a member of this meetup. When you routinely get together with the same group of folks to support your team over the years, you become like family. I know I’m not alone in recognizing and enjoying the familial aspect and safe space of this meetup. So it broke my heart to hear that another beloved member of our community was harassed at the last meetup by one of our own. Her physical space was repeatedly disrespected and untoward comments were said. That behavior is unacceptable.

I thought it went without saying that we have a zero tolerance policy for harassment in this group. Apparently, I need to say it. WE HAVE A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR HARASSMENT. If you are found to be someone considered unsafe to be around, you WILL be removed from the meetup and you will not be invited to future events.

Thank you to the people who intervened. I wish it hadn’t been necessary, but I appreciate you recognizing we all are Yankee family and when one of us is in trouble, we help any way we can.

I look forward to seeing you all during the postseason. Let’s go Yankees!
