This year’s Big A$$ Hike & Cookout brought out a lot of new hikers as we hit the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail! 🥾

After the hike, we enjoyed some good food, checked out the vendors, played volleyball and other games, and just had a great day relaxing in the park.

Thanks to everyone who came out and spent the day with us! We hope you enjoyed yourself, met someone new, and maybe even made a new hiking buddy along the way.

I love when we get the opportunity to teach our young folks some basic bushcraft and outdoor survival skills! Today, we spent the morning with 24 young people from the Alexandria-Mt. Vernon Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.

They learned the basics of emergency preparedness, how to build an emergency shelter using ponchos, and how to start a fire using ferro rods. 🔥🏕️

This was a great group of teens who were eager to learn and weren’t afraid to get hands-on. We hope everyone walked away with some new skills, a little more confidence in the outdoors, and maybe even a newfound love for being in the woods.

Most importantly, they learned a few skills that could help them survive in the woods if they ever needed them.

Teaching the next generation how to enjoy the outdoors AND be prepared while doing it! 💪🏾

The Goombay Summer Turf Kickball regular season has officially come to an end, and now it’s time for the PLAYOFFS! 🏆

We’ve got some great matchups scheduled for next Tuesday, and you already know the competition is going to be intense.

Come out, support your favorite teams, and see who has what it takes to make it to the championship! We will be at Walker Mill Park in Dist. Heights, MD from 7:30pm-11:00pm.
