Community Voices: Herrera Family ✨

For the Herrera family, soccer is something they’ve played, coached, and shared together, as a family.

What started with José coaching Soccer for Success grew into all four giving their time to young people in their community and finding that coaching together has brought them even closer along the way.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, our Community Voices series continues with the Herrera family whose connection to the game is also a connection to each other.

Long before soccer as we know it, Indigenous communities were coming together through the power of play.

Traditions like Pahsahëman, a ball game played by the Lenape people and passed down through generations, reflect the important role sport and play can have in bringing people together, strengthening connections, and carrying culture forward.

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the histories, cultures, and lasting contributions of Indigenous peoples and recognize the communities keeping these traditions alive today.

Community Voices: Coach Adrian ✨

We all make mistakes, coaches included.

For Coach Adrian, that honesty is part of being a leader. By showing his players that it’s okay to make a mistake, he can help them focus on what matters next: how they respond, solve the problem, and keep going.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re continuing to share the voices of coach-mentors like Adrian who are helping young people grow on and off the pitch.

The best kind of after-school plans. ⚽️🌟

Soccer for Success means: playing with friends, learning new skills, and having a coach-mentor you can rely on both on and off the pitch!

Some lessons from a coach stay with you for life. 💙

The confidence to compete. The courage to believe in yourself. Learning how to be a good person, not just a good player. And so much more.

This National Coaches Day, we’re celebrating the coaches who see something in young people before they see it in themselves and whose impact lasts far beyond the pitch.

To every coach who has believed, encouraged, challenged, and helped someone grow: thank you. Keep becoming the coach your players need. Start the free Yes, Coach! Coach-Mentor Training today: https://yescoach.com/?utm_campaign=yc&utm_medium=social&utm_source=fb

The tournament may be over, but the legacy is still being built.

Earlier this week, we joined the Philadelphia Soccer 2026 Host Committee, Penn Medicine, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia to open a new mini-pitch, creating another place for youth to play in their community.

The opening marks another step forward in the 26 for 26 initiative with the Host Committee and our shared commitment to ensuring the excitement around soccer creates lasting opportunities for young people across Philadelphia.

The legacy of the World Cup isn’t only about what happened over the summer. It’s about what remains for communities after it, more access to the game, more places to play, and more opportunities for the next generation.

Thank you to our partners for continuing to invest in Philadelphia’s youth and helping bring this vision to life.

Community Voices: Coach Paola

“It’s not just about soccer. It’s about seeing how the kids are doing.”

For Coach Paola, those words are a reminder that you never truly know what a young person may be carrying with them when they arrive at practice.

Being a coach-mentor means paying attention to the person behind the player, recognizing when they may need support and creating an environment where they can feel happy, healthy, and cared for. Her perspective is a reminder of the role coach-mentors can play beyond what happens on the pitch.

As part of our Community Voices series, we’re highlighting stories from people across our community in their own words. Today, we’re sharing Paola’s story and perspective on what it means to show up for young people beyond the game.

A message worth remembering. 💗

Back in her hometown of Diamond Bar, Alex Morgan gave a little advice to the next generation: keep believing in yourself, keep building your confidence, and trust that what you gain through the game can carry with you far beyond the pitch.
