YOUR'E NEVER TOO OLD.......Adults who do not engage in consistent strength training lose up to 1 pound of muscle per year after age 40. By age 80, untrained adults have lost up to 50 percent of their Type 2 muscle fibers. This is particularly devastating because the Type 2 fibers are the largest, strongest, and most powerful type of muscle fibers. We are all aging but there are things we can and should be doing so we can continue to live a high quality of life as we age. Our goal should be to remain as strong and as capable as long as we can rather than do nothing to fight the aging process. If you want to live a high quality life into your later years and not be a hostage in your body, you must strength train.
