The July Pulse is here — and it was a full month at the Greater Waterbury YMCA. 💙

From campfires at Camp Mataucha to P*e-Wee Prom royalty, a transformed space at the Child Advocacy Center, community field day energy, and back-to-school prep — July reminded us why we do this work every day.

We also spotlighted our July YCON, Phyllis Lucas-Coleman, 13 years strong and still showing up for the children and families of Waterbury. And congratulations to Kyah Pettaway, our Teacher of the Month, for bringing heart and dedication to the hardest room in the building.

The Y is more than a gym. It's where community happens.

Every kid deserves a fairytale. Ours got one. 👑✨
Our future kindergarteners were royalty for a day at the P*e Wee Prom 2026: A Fairytale Ball — an enchanted afternoon of dancing, music, treats, and photos with their most special guest by their side.

The magic was real, the fits were immaculate, and the memories? Those last forever. 🤍😭

A huge thank you to Miss Phyllis for bringing the fairytale to life, to our incredible teachers who poured love into every detail.

Water main break in Bunker Hill, Town Plot, or Country Club? No water at home, no problem. Our locker rooms are open to the community Tuesday, July 28 – Friday, July 31, during our regular hours (5 AM–9 PM). 🚿 

Make sure to bring a valid photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport).
