Rest in peace, Dave. Your presence and expertise will certainly be missed by all in the wrestling community.
It’s with heavy hearts that we are sharing the news of the passing of longtime Nebraska wrestling official and two-time state champion Dave Walton.
To his family Dave was known as the mayor of wrestling town. Known by so many around the state due to so many years contributing to the sport.
Dave was a two-time state champion for Westside High School and part of the 1976 state championships team. He wrestled collegiately at UNO. Most know him as a longtime Nebraska wrestling official. If you’ve been around wrestling in Nebraska in the last 60 years - you’ve likely been around him. A wrestler through and through.
The season ahead will no doubt feel different without Dave on the mats. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
