Congratulations to our own Graham Safford on recently being named as Assistant Coach for the Thomas College Men’s Basketball team. Though Graham graduated from Hampden Academy, he perfected his game in Camden-Rockport schools and was a member of the 2009 state championship squad.

Welcome to Waterville, Coach! 📍

We’re excited to officially welcome Graham Safford to the Thomas College Men’s Basketball staff as our newest Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach.

As a player at Bates College, Graham established himself as one of the top guards in program history. A two-year captain, he helped lead the Bobcats to the winningest season in school history (21–7), the program’s first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, and a Sweet Sixteen run. He finished his career with 1,252 points (10th all-time at Bates) while earning NESCAC First Team All-Conference honors, Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches & Writers Association Player of the Year, ECAC Division III New England First Team All-Star, and Bates College Male Athlete of the Year.

Graham also brings a wealth of coaching and basketball operations experience:

Helped lead St. Dom’s to the 2025 Maine State Championship as an assistant coach (2024–25)
Assistant Coach at Bates College (2019–2024)
Assistant Coach at Yarmouth High School (2018–2019)
Basketball Operations Video Coordinator with the Charlotte Hornets (2015–2016)

Coach Safford’s experience at every level of the game, combined with his passion for development both on and off the court, makes him an outstanding addition to the DAWG family.

The Gold Rush run for our varsity boys ended just short of a back to back championship with a loss to Scarborough in the title game.

Our seniors also competed in their final Gold Rush. One of many “lasts” for these guys.

Congratulations on a great Gold Rush run for our JV boys. Making the Midnight Madness championship game and then making a deep run into the semifinals of their bracket.

The varsity boys are moving on to the semifinals at 11. JV boys are also in their semifinals at 11:50.
