HQ Autosport Racing Follow us as we race in the NASA WERC series and the World Racing League endurance racing series.

Endurance racing is a team sport where car preparation, driver preparation, equipment and crew preparation all come together. We race in pro-am races in the US and most of the time share our in-car livestream video for our friends and family to follow us. Look for a link to our livestream here on our team page.

On Thursday 5/7 we took the HQ Autosport B46 racecar to Buttonwillow for a semi-private testing day. Only 4 cars there so we had the track virtually to ourselves. We were doing som tire testing in preparation for a couple of Zenith racing series races.

My niece and Goddaughter Quinn was interested in joining us at the track for the day. Most of my family thinks it’s cool that we race but rarely have the interest to come out and spectate.

I thought I might be able to run a few laps in my M4 with Quinn in the passenger seat to give her a taste of the sport. Unfortunately, Buttonwillow wanted a full day fee to run 4 or 5 laps. That was a little too much for one short session.

As always, the people you meet at the track are always great due our shared love of the sport. I was chatting with Matt Treglia from Fastlane Race School. He was doing some lead follow training with one of his students who was getting his license to go SCCA racing.

Matt offered to give Quinn a ride in the Toyota 86’s he was using that day. We were running the new track “The Circuit”.

I can’t thank Matt enough for making the day for Quinn. Those few laps with a professional driver made the day for Quinn and for me because I really wanted her first trip to a racetrack to be a positive experience.

I often get asked “how do you start racing”. Getting some HPDE experience on your own and then attending a race school like Fastlane is how you get started. Give him a call if you’re interested. Fast Lane Racing School

Very challenging race weekend, with about 2 hours to go we were running P5, about 45 seconds out of P3 and got black flagged for brake lights not working. We found a failed Bus bar supplying power to ABS and a few other things, we fixed it on Pit lane, but lost 4 laps and dropped to P12. Travis Weltzien had a stellar closing stint and dragged us back up to P10, having to work through a lot of traffic to get to the cars we were racing.

We're happy and disappointed at the same time, but our teamwork and perseverance got us to the finish, when none of the other cars from yesterday's incident finished or even started today. (Except the one team that brought in a replacement car)
