I slip cast with vintage molds and hand paint each piece to be unique. I have a very colorful style with nods to the mid century and art deco movements. My pottery ‘career’ began with a few classes at Carroll University. When COVID hit we were all sent home with a bag of clay and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Clay Fest 2026 Artist --- Melanie & Marc Ownley | My Charming Ceramics

My Charming Ceramics is the collaborative studio of Melanie and Marc Ownley in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We create handmade pottery that blends traditional techniques with modern design, turning clay into functional pieces full of warmth and charm.

Melanie, a Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) graduate with a background in illustration and wedding cake design, brings playful form, color, and imagination to our work. Marc contributes perspective and creativity, inspired by Melanie’s vision. Together, we use wheel-thrown and hand-built methods with porcelain and stoneware clays to craft everyday essentials—like our signature dish wand holders and mugs—that are both beautiful and useful.
