Great day in the turkey woods this past Sunday. Lots of gobbling all around, and fortunate to take this double-bearded tom just after first light. God is good…

For 28 years I’ve been hunting for that trophy buck, a dream that I’ve had since I was a young boy. That dream has always managed to elude me, until today. I was invited to come down hunting by my good buddy Mike Rigdon, as they have an extended gun season being as the property he hunts lies in one of the sub metro units with extended season dates.

It was a really cold, and windy sit; however, we were determined to put in an all day hunt. With about a half hour of shooting time remaining, I caught movement on the ridge across from us, and knew it was a deer. We watched it slowly make its way down through the timber and approach the field we were sitting on. The buck crept out of the timber and into the field at 160 yards, gave me a good broadside shot, and the rest is history. I’m so truly grateful to Mike, and for this whole opportunity. This is the biggest buck I’ve ever taken, and truly, a dream come true. What an amazing blessing….

It was an absolutely beautiful morning in the woods today. This particular Tom was very skittish and gave us fits all morning; however, we stuck it out, stayed patient, and were blessed with this beautiful bird. 20.5 lbs., 7/8” spurs, and no beard due to beard rot. I am truly blessed. Thank you, Lord.

Minnesota treated me well once again this year. I was able to get this unique antlered buck and a big doe last night within minutes of each other. Very blessed.

How many of you can relate??? lol

Today was definitely a turkey hunting opener for the memory books. Between the winds and the rain we weren’t really sure how today would pan out; however, it ended up being a hunt neither of us will soon forget.

At 8:30am I was blessed with a really nice tom, and in celebrating we soon realized we had another bird still working its way towards us. Just seventeen minutes later, my good friend and neighbor, John, was blessed with his own great tom. I’m still in awe how this hunt all panned out, and I will certainly never forget it! Thanks again, John, what an awesome hunt!

Great late season hunt today with a good friend, and bringing home two big does to top it off!
