AOPA Live This Week - July 9, 2020 First flight of a new kit jet. Perfecting techniques with a POV camera. Low, slow, and retro in the Everglades. Cruising over Pittsburgh.

The RV-12 will not be available to rent for another 2 weeks even though Spring City has opened their rental fleet for use.

There are 2 reasons the RV-12 will NOT be on the schedule:

1) We are developing an RV-12 specific disinfecting protocol - unlike a legacy airplane where the disinfectant spray can be liberally applied everywhere the RV-12 with its modern electronics is not a candidate for sq**rt and pray application of disinfectant. Additionally the glass on the electronic screens needs special micro-fiber cloths to be used for cleaning and disinfecting to prevent damage to the screens. When that protocol has been completed, it will be available by video for all RV-12 renters, students, and instructors.

2) The Surgeon General has recommended that for at least another week Americans refrain from even going to the grocery store. While I personally have doubts about the necessity of all the CCP-19 precautions until such time as there is evidence to the contrary I will follow the most conservative guidelines. Flying the RV-12 is certainly less critical the grocery shopping.

Spring City Aviation is closed and therefore the RV-12 is not available for rent for the duration of the Corona Virus lock down.

Our newest Sport Pilot . . . from St John's Northwestern Military Academy .... Cadet Captain William Tuttle. William is the Commander of Delta Company in the 135th Corps of Cadets. He is shown pictured with his instructor, retired Army National Guard pilot, Jimmy Szajkovics.

C/CPT Tuttle has an appointment to the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY and will be leaving us soon to join the long grey line.
