Isle Royale Adventure Recap!

The CrawDaddy crew just got back from an unforgettable backpacking trip through Isle Royale National Park! Renee led our group across the island's rugged trails, and wow — did we score some perfect weather for it. 🌤️

We had private beaches almost entirely to ourselves after each day's hike — barely another backpacker in sight on our route. There's nothing like feeling like the whole island is yours.

Along the way we spotted an incredible mix of wildlife and plant life: snowshoe hares, loons, luna moths, poly-fringed galas, blooming pitcher plants, wood lilies, spotted coralroot orchids, forget-me-nots, and more. The way the rocks and microclimates shifted as we moved across the island made every mile feel completely different from the last.

The CrawDaddy crew spent last week at Isle Royale National Park. Guides Jamie and Darrin lead a group of sea kayakers on a 6 day trip around half of the island. They encountered several moose, a wolf, day after day of glassy water and fog that made for an other-worldly paddling experience. Year after year, this trip never disappoints!

As you know Jamie has been planning and training for his solo BWCA Border Route trip for months. Unfortunately, because of the forest fires and Boundary Waters Area Closure his trip will have to wait till next year. 😔

We at CrawDaddy Outdoors are extremely grateful for the men and women fighting these fires to protect lives and our precious wilderness areas and pray for thier safety. 🙏

That said...

We ALL agree Jamie still needs a break! He's decided he wants to spend some time paddling new stretches of local rivers in Iowa, southern Minnesota and SW Wisconsin.
