Waverly Shell Rock middle school boys cross county come home as 3A state champs!
The WSR boys and girls teams raced in the IATC Washburn Classic Middle School Statewide Cross Country Championships on Saturday October 19th in Ankeny, Iowa. The Go-hawk boys team included 8th graders Alex Chapman (2), Drew Kay (6), Birk Meisgeier (7),Landry Callahan (38), Bennett Nus (66),Joah Anderson (141) and 7th graders Charlie Schaapveld (29) Nolan Welter (159) and Xander Buchholz (201). The race went off and these boys never looked back, winning the meet by 55 points.
The girls team debuted in the 3A race with a 15th place finish. Runners included 8th graders Holland Dolash (88), Eliza Baskett (109), Audrey Zortman (117), Holly Moore (120)and 7th graders Nora Schaapveld (38) and Landry Rasmussen (106). Keep watch, there’s more to come from these Go-Hawks!

Come cheer on our amazing Miracle League athletes as they round the bases one last time this year! Every swing, every run, and every smile reminds us why baseball is truly for everyone.

The Miracle League program gives children and adults with special needs the chance to play baseball on a safe, fully accessible field. With the help of volunteer “buddies,” every player gets to hit, run, and cross home plate—building confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories along the way.
