Join us Saturday, June 20th at 12 PM for a special Father’s Day Event, Dads on the Mats, at Wise Jiu Jitsu.

All dads are invited to hit the mats with their kids, no matter their age or rank.

Expect light training, fun rounds, plenty of laughs, and a great time together as a gym family.

Today's focus was working a submission from closed guard: the Kimura.

We worked on securing the Kimura from closed guard and, just as importantly, what to do when our partner defends it. Instead of forcing the submission, we used their reaction against them and transitioned into a sweep that put us right where we want to be: on top in mount and in control.

A good reminder that sometimes the submission is the goal, and sometimes it's the pathway to a better position. Either way, we're winning. 👊
