Lady Eagles get back on track!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Lily Mellick registered her second straight double-double as Wayland-Cohocton slipped past Naples 39-37 Saturday afternoon.
Mellick ended up with 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Lady Eagles (3-2). Kaitlyn House was next with ab12-point, 20-rebound double-double of her own, while Karinah Culbertson chipped in five points and 11 boards.
Way-Co heads to Dansville Wednesday. The JV tip is set for 5:30 p.m.

The varsity Wayland-Cohocton Lady Eagles put their two-game win streak on the line tonight against host Geneseo at 7 p.m. The JV Eagles seek their first win in the opener at 5:30. Come out and support your maroon and gold tonight in Blue Devil Country.

In the Wayland-Cohocton sports recap from Thursday, November 30th, the Eagles JV and Varsity Boys Basketball teams kicked off their regular season schedules with a pair of home games against York. The JV team held on to a close 44-39 win. In the Varsity game, the Eagles faced some tough competition in a loss to the Golden Knights and look to regroup ahead of their next game Saturday afternoon.

In upcoming Eagles sports action, the maroon and gold Modified Girls Basketball team hosts Livonia on Friday afternoon, December 1st in the Middle School Gym at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, December 2nd the JV and Varsity Wrestling teams head to Byron-Bergen for an all day tournament starting at 9 a.m.

Also on Saturday, the WC Hall of Fame Showcase Basketball Tournament will feature five varsity games in the Field House. Wayland-Cohocton Boys Varsity Basketball team kicks off the tourney off with a noon game against Elba. Games to follow include Dansville versus Marcus Whitman at 2 p.m, Avoca-Prattsburgh versus York at 4 p.m., Canisteo Greenwood Girls Basketball team versus Hornell at 6 p.m., and Hornell versus Corning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for the entire day.

Back-to-Back

The Way-Co varsity Lady Eagles notched their second straight W, posting a 35-30 non-league victory over North Rose-Wolcott to kick off the home portion of the schedule Wednesday night in Wayland.

Junior Jordan Gammell and freshman Kaitlin House led the effort with 11 points apiece, while Lily Mellick tacked on eight as Way-Co, 2-1, moved above the .500 mark for the first time in over three seasons. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Way to go Lady Eagles! 🦅🏀
