An event to remember... the WHS Marching Band serenades its first director, 99-year-old Ray Davis... outside Quaker Heights this afternoon.

This is VERY exciting, and you are invited to attend... several community groups have made a joint contribution to the Spartan Marching Band, which will kick off its fundraising march across town at Quaker Heights this Sunday, August 16 at 5:00 pm. The guest conductor will be soon-to-be 99-year-old Ray Davis, the very first WHS Marching Band Director!

We are quite proud that, because of the generosity of our Alumni, we will be awarding a record $20,000 in scholarships to WHS graduating seniors on Saturday evening at the Alumni Banquet.

Reminder to the seniors who applied -- you must be present at the Alumni Banquet to be eligible to receive a scholarship.

Congratulations to the family of Warren Sheehan 1951... today Warren was posthumously elected to the Wayne Local Schools Academic/Citizenship Hall of Fame. For many years, Warren served as the historian for the committee that chooses the Hall of Fame honorees.

The official induction will be at Alumni on Saturday, May 23... Warren's wife Marta Rush Sheehan 1952, and his children Sandy Sheehan Howard 1976, Christine Sheehan-Dyer 1980, and David Sheehan 1984 will receive the award on his behalf.
