One of the most frustrating parts of leaving religion is realizing that leaving the church doesnāt automatically remove the conditioning.
You can stop believing the doctrine and still:
⢠distrust yourself
⢠feel guilty for having needs
⢠seek permission from authority figures
⢠fear being wrong
⢠abandon yourself to keep the peace
⢠struggle to know what you want
Because indoctrination isnāt just a set of beliefs.
Itās a set of emotional patterns, survival responses, and nervous system adaptations that continue operating long after youāve left.
And until those patterns are recognized, they often keep us recreating the very dynamics we were trying to escape.
The good news?
What was learned can be unlearned.

A lot of ppl leave religion intellectually long before their nervous system ever feels free.
