Webster Groves Ice Arena

Masks are now recommended but not required for city buildings. Beginning today at 8 a.m., the public is no longer required to wear masks in our buildings, regardless of vaccination status. This includes City Hall, the Fitness Center and the Ice Arena.

The Webster Groves Recreation Complex, inclusive of Ice Arena, will be closing at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 17, due to the impending winter weather. All evening activities and rentals are canceled. The plan is to open as usual on Friday, Feb. 18, but you may want to call first before you make the trek. Be safe out there!

Off school on Monday, Nov. 1? Why not improve your mental health and come skating! There's a public skate session 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. that day.

Congratulations go out to Webster's own Joe Mendica for his promotion to Rink and Facility Superintendent, as well as fellow hometowner Tyler Westermayer, recently hired as Rink Supervisor! We're so happy to have them join Rink Supervisor Kenneth Johnson and Maintenance Worker II Leon "Nubby" Johnson as the Ice Arena management team! What a fierce foursome! Pop by sometime and meet them!

The Ice Arena is closed until August 20 for annual maintenance. Have a great rest of the summer!

IMPORTANT PROGRAMMING NOTE! Participants should have received an email, but the Feb. 15 Learn-to-Skate class, which was snowed out, is being made up this evening, Feb. 22 at the same time. The next session, that was due to start this evening, has been pushed back to begin March 1.

Missouri American Water has given notice that there will be a water outage on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, for the water main replacement work being done on Glendale Avenue. Due to this outage the Rec Complex will have no restrooms available nor means to adequately sanitize the facility. Therefore, the Rec Complex will be closed Tuesday, January 5, 2021, starting at 9 am until approximately 3 pm. We will update our social media accounts and door signage when the water is turned back on and the facility can reopen.

In case you haven't yet heard, the rink was able to take advantage of the County Executive's order to get a head-start on the annual 5-week maintenance closure so as to minimize the shut-down period. It is anticipated that the rink will re-open July 6 and it won't shut down July 19 - August 15 as originally scheduled. Yay! We can't wait to see you back!

Phil Zamora has been hired as the Rink and Facility Superintendent for the Webster Groves Parks and Recreation Department, following the retirement of Dave Garth, who was with the department for 34 years. Phil comes from California, where he was in the rink industry for 20 years, most recently working as General Manager for The Rinks at Lakewood, a 3-sheet ice facility owned by the Anaheim Ducks. Phil also drove the Zamboni for the NHL Ducks games. Welcome to Missouri and Webster Groves, Phil!
