Welcome to another First-Year Friday, Blue! This week, we’d like to spotlight foil fencer Lauren Khoo 💙🤺

Lauren is from San Francisco, CA and chose Wellesley for the “beautiful campus and encouraging community”. She is most excited to “meet new people and for a new experience in life!” This summer Lauren visited Japan and Korea, and is working as a bobarista. Her favorite unpopular food combo? Nutella and cream cheese.

This week, we are so excited to welcome Alisha Li to the team. Alisha is an epee fencer from Warren, NJ and chose Wellesley for the “committed teaachers and the opportunity to continue a beautiful sport”. This summer, she’s been fencing, reading, and hanging out with friends. Alisha’s favorite unpopular food combination? Hummus and seaweed on a bagel.

Kicking off our First-Year Fridays, we are so excited to welcome Riley W**d to Wellesley! 🤺💙

Riley is an epee fencer from Guilford, CT and chose Wellesley for “the supportive community and amazing opportunities”, and is most excited to meet new people and live on campus! This summer, Riley has been spending time with friends and playing music. Riley’s favorite unpopular food combination? Italian dressing on avocados.

Though more informal than any of our posts from the past four years, it felt important to say goodbye in a way that was authentically “Wellesley fencing” - weird and wonderful! Enjoy the snaps of our treasured (tired) seniors!

Class of 2023, OUT! Thank you to all of our family, friends, and teammates for cheering us on over a jam-packed, incredibly successful, and ever-so silly career. Blue pride forever!

A small side note - It’s been my (Hunter) pleasure to “curate” content for all of our fans for the past four years, and if nothing else I hope I have left you with a few laughs, cheesy puns, and memorable pictures of your favorite Wellesley fencing athlete(s). A special thanks to Miles and Josh who make my job easy, and to our resident vlogger Kimberley Kimura ‘23 for launching the hit web series “Lungin’ through Lunch” 💙

What a week we’ve had! For the first time in program history, we are the recipients of the annual BLUE PRIDE AWARD!

That’s right folks, the hype was real.

A few days before that, three of our captains participated in the senior tradition of hooprolling at Wellesley. Though none of them were crowned the winner, everyone made it to the finish line unscathed.

Thank you friends, family, and fans for a lovely season! Go whales, always! 🐋

It’s the FINAL COUNTDOWN, Blue!

Tomorrow, March 12th, we’ll be at Harvard for the NCAA Regional Championships, and we’re ready to finish STRONG 😤

This meet also marks the last collegiate tournament for our dear captains (pictured in order): Sejal Saxena, Alexia Gilioli, Kimberley Kimura, and Hunter Dodrill. Thank you all for your incredible contributions to our team over the last four years! We 💙 you!

A HUGELY successful day at NEIFC Championships yesterday!

The Wellesley Blue earned 2nd place overall, missing out on 1st by only 3 bouts. Foil and epee squads both earned top-3 honors, and we came home with 6 individual medals, including a first place finish from Grace Xu ‘26, second place finishes by Kimberly Kimura ‘23 and Sharon Huang ‘26, and top-8 finishes by Alexia Gilioli ‘23, Edith Po ‘24, and Hunter Dodrill ‘23.

We ended the day with a lovely senior celebration and officially announced Edith Po ‘24 as our captain for next year!
