To kick off the BPCA's 2026 National AKC Herding trials and tests - they are hosting an "Introduction to Herding" workshop on Tuesday Sept 1st at Rancho Terra Norte' in Wellington, CO starting at 9 AM. If you are planning to participate in the AKC Herding Instinct and Farm Dog Certification tests in the afternoon - this workshop is an excellent opportunity to introduce your dog to dog friendly stock in a safe, low impact manner. Learn about how the relationship between the dog and Shepherd work to manage livestock safely and basic commands. No experience necessary. Open to all herding breeds. RTN is so excited to be hosting the 2026 Berger Picard National Herding Events (open to all breed, with preferrence given to Picards) and Elevage September 1 - 4th. There is a full week of events that include:
* Intro to Herding Clinic with Val Manning (Tues Sept 1st AM)
* AKC Herding Instinct Testing (HIC) and Farm Dog Certification (FDC) with judges Karen Trimble and Carol Ann Hartnagle on Sept 1st PM)
* AKC C Course Trial on Goats, Judge Karen Trimble - Wednesday Sept 2nd AM, Evevage Day 1
* AKC D Course trial on Goats, Judge Karen Trimble - Thursday Sept 3rd AM, ATTS Temperament Test and Mondio demonstrations.

Finished up our 5 day Spring Herding Cluster taking one of our judges: Mary Wisecarver to the airport this morning. What a fabulous weekend with both Valley Kennel Club hosting AKC trials offering all courses (A/B/C/and D) and tests on Thursday, Sunday and Monday. Then Rancho Terra Norte' hosted 2 days of Herding Breed Association trials offering all courses (RLF/HRD/BTD/HTAD/HTD) and tests on Friday and Saturday. In addition to Mary Alice, Melissa Archer Muncaster was on the judge's panel. Set out and stock handling was superbly executed by Britney Mazzer and Pat Schneidmiller with their Rottweiler crew. Special thanks to Doug Richardson, Bailey Bremner, David Birch, David Stanford, Tracey Sudbay Hash, Catherine Hadley, Michael Mayer, James Otteman, Lio Blackwell and Ayden Loudin for helping with scribing/timing/duck wrangling, gold cart driving, door dashing, trash hauling and all the extra things that always need done during a trial weekend.
