I would like to take the time to thank my peers and colleagues in the support showed to me and Cynthia Sulzberger’s great horse Front Page. We wanted the dust to settle before providing information. Front Page had been treated for what was believed to be a spider/bug bite in April 2023 and the area became itchy such that he rubbed himself in the area taking off his hair and creating a ‘hot spot’. We worked diligently with the vets in treating the area, rode him in a belly band and kept all leg off his side. He showed no pain, no distress and the area did not open nor bleed.  We kept a close eye on him at all times, including in shipping. We ensured the management at Devon was aware of the prior vet care and we had the vet records to show. The two stewards examined Front Page, touched him, poked and prodded, and took photos of both sides of the horse. The show vet did a full examination to ensure no sensitivity and no issues. Everyone confirmed the hair was growing back in the area. This was never an injury nor spur rub. The judges and show manager were aware that the area had been looked at to be sure everything was done correctly. We had a successful Devon, the area in question only got better and not worse and it caused no pain nor sensitivity for our horse. The USEF fully investigated the matter, reviewed all vet records, reports, and photos. which were provided immediately. It was determined a closed matter. I thank the Devon Officials and Show Management for their dedication in getting the matter addressed and put to bed.
