Gracie Elite Jiu-Jitsu Wellington Jiu Jitsu is a grappling based martial art. It’s a practice of control of ones self and the opponent. We have curriculums structured for all levels.

Come check out our family friendly environment for all ages and skill levels. It is never too early or too late to start jiu jitsu. Professor Monahan, a Black Belt under Rillion Gracie’s 6th degree Black Belt Mauricio Villardo takes a personal interest in the growth and development on and off the mat of all students. As a family owned and operated school we strive to create a welcoming culture based on mutual respect, shared goals and a strong sense of community. The hardest thing for most people is coming to the first class so we offer an introductory class to help build some of the fundamentals if you are uncomfortable jumping right into a group class. Congratulations to Asher who took Silver in this past weekends Newbreed tournament. Asher always comes to class ready to train and push through obstacles. His dedication to training, ability to face new challenges, and courage to rise to the occasion always make us proud. We can’t wait to see how far he can take this journey. Way to go kid! 🥋 From the mouths of babes 😂😂😂

Their answers were… exactly what you’d expect. 😂

Some came to learn.
Some came to fight.
Some came because Dad don’t work today. 😅
And apparently, at least one came for reasons that even THEY can’t explain.

But underneath it all the most important part is they keep showing up.

They’re learning confidence, discipline, resilience, and how to be comfortable being uncomfortable—all while having a ridiculous amount of fun. 🤩

And honestly… we’ll even take “because I wanted to choke my brother” as a win. 😂

🥋🇺🇸 BIG NEWS AT GRACIE ELITE!

We are incredibly proud to announce that Gracie Elite is now a participating academy with the We Defy Foundation, providing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu scholarships to disabled veterans. 🇺🇸❤️

And we couldn’t think of a better person to help us represent what this program is all about than Patty—rocking her signature Army Green We Defy gi and bringing her A-game every time she steps on the mats.

Patty is an absolute pleasure to have at our school. She shows up ready to learn, ready to work, and ready to push through whatever challenges are in front of her. Physical limitations may change how you train… but they don’t get to decide whether you train. 💪

She reminds all of us that Jiu-Jitsu isn’t about being the strongest person in the room. It’s about problem-solving, adapting, persevering—and occasionally getting folded into a position that makes you question every decision that brought you there. 😂

We are honored to be part of the We Defy Foundation and to provide a place where disabled veterans can train, build confidence, find community, and discover just how capable they really are.

Huge congratulations to our teammate Chris on bringing home a medal at the IBJJF Honolulu Open this weekend! Competing on one of the biggest stages in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu takes courage, discipline, and countless hours on the mats—and we’re incredibly proud to see that hard work pay off.
