Good Morning, Wellington,
As we wake up today, we begin to assess the damage caused by yesterday’s tornado. Recovery will take time, but our immediate focus is on helping neighbors whose homes were hit hardest.
Currently, FPL reports around 8,000 homes without power, most due to equipment damage from the storm. Restoration teams are actively working to repair the damage and restore service as quickly as possible.
Wellington’s strength lies in its residents. As soon as the tornado passed, our Public Works team was on the ground clearing debris and reopening roads. Neighbors were already stepping up to assist each other, and our first responders worked tirelessly through the night to keep everyone safe.
I’ve had dozens of you reach out offering help. Thank you. As we continue to assess the damage, we will provide updates on how best to contribute to recovery efforts. For now, the best thing you can do is check on your neighbors and offer assistance where needed.
Please avoid unnecessary travel, as it may interfere with crews working to restore our community. Stay safe, and let’s continue to support one another during this recovery.
Residents can still reach us via the Village’s Customer Service line at 561-791-4037 for any questions or concerns.
We encourage residents to report issues such as downed trees, flooding, or other storm-related concerns through the GoWellington app or by visiting our website at wellingtonfl.gov/GoWellington
