NIKOLE
“I’ve been training with Kyle and Sonya at LEAF almost since the beginning of the gym in 2022. It started with general strength training focused towards ski racing and later soccer, and after an ACL injury and surgery in late 2024 I returned in order to get strong again and chase my pre-op PRs. I am proudest of my back squat (pre surgery 200 lbs, post surgery 170 lbs and climbing!). My best days in the gym are when the music is good and I’m dancing between sets.”
Now into her final high school year as a goalkeeper on the soccer team, Nikole is full of energy and spice. The minute the clock starts, Nikole goes to work. She is committed to new PRs on deadlift and back squat, and wants to push for one more rep each time.

MIKE
“I’ve belonged to five previous gyms and worked with four other trainers before LEAF. Over that time, I would lose weight, gain it back, get hurt, and then stop going to the gym until I felt better (or much worse) and start the cycle over again. LEAF is the first gym where the trainers have worked with me through various tweaks and challenges so that I could continue to train consistently. The LEAF trainers constantly modify to help you improve and work around injuries or limitations.”
After losing nearly 70 lbs, Mike has put on 10-12 lbs of muscle without overall weight gain since working with LEAF trainers and increased his VO2 Max from 39.4 to 43.7, which is the upper 10th percentile in his age category (60-69 yrs). Referred to LEAF by his chiropractor, Mike has used consistent one on one personal training sessions for just over two years. Working with a variety of health concerns, he has maintained glucose and cardiac markers in a healthy range and will work the pants off almost anyone else in the room.
After retiring from a long career in the fruit industry, Mike gives tirelessly to the community in various volunteer positions including trail building for the Chelan Douglas Land Trust with one of his many big-motored toys. His training and enhanced fitness allow him to continue to work hard every day and adventure worldwide with hiking without injury or lack of stamina.

Excellent coaching is the secret to getting you to your goals: faster, safer, and with a whole lot more fun!
If you have ever tried to do anything, it is almost a certainty that you had a coach, whether you acknowledged it or not.
Coaching comes in many forms:
(1) A person paid and given the title of Coach
(2) A more experienced person willing to teach you what they know, a teacher.
(3) An intentional sharer via digital means, think Youtube or other video platforms
(4) The unknowing participant in the learning process you observe as you “steal” the important information from their activity or mishaps and gather for your own
Regardless of the coaching source, we all must acknowledge how valuable learning from someone else is because it is the most powerful shortcut to getting what we want.
Bad coaching will set you back, injure you, or leave you questioning if your goals are even possible for you.
Good coaching will keep you coming back, hopefully for awhile. It will challenge you, encourage you, and make you feel worthy of your goals.
