🇺🇸 Help Us Protect Wenatchee's Public Paddle Dock This Fourth of July

This Fourth of July, we're asking for your help protecting one of Wenatchee's most unique community resources.

Many people don't realize that the public paddle dock along the Apple Capital Loop Trail is operated and maintained by the volunteer-run Wenatchee Row & Paddle Club. It is also the only public launch in the Wenatchee area designed specifically for kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, rowing shells, and other human-powered watercraft.

This isn't just our dock—it's a community resource that provides access to the Columbia River for paddlers, rowers, families, and visitors from across our region.

Unfortunately, during the last several Fourth of July celebrations, personal fireworks have been set off from the dock, causing thousands of dollars in damage. While the dock grating looks like metal, the structure beneath it is actually fiberglass. The intense heat from fireworks permanently damages the dock, as shown in the photos below.

Every repair is paid for by our nonprofit and its members—funds that would otherwise go toward improving programs, equipment, and public access to the river.

How you can help

🎆 Personal fireworks are prohibited within the City of Wenatchee and surrounding unincorporated areas because of our region's high wildfire risk. They should never be used on or around the WRPC dock.

👀 If you see someone preparing to use fireworks on the dock, please let them know it is a community-owned facility and that fireworks are prohibited. If fireworks are actively being used, please call 911 so the situation can be addressed before someone is injured or the dock is damaged.

By looking out for one another, we can protect this unique community resource and keep it safe and open for everyone who enjoys Wenatchee's beautiful waterways.

WRPC's signature Youth on Columbia (YOC) event is around the corner, and we need YOU to make it successful!

YOC is a beloved annual community service event where WRPC partners with the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center to take hundreds of elementary school age children out on the Columbia River in our 12-person Voyager Canoes. Many get to experience the magic of our local river systems for the first time. It is truly a special event that you won't want to miss!
