THANK YOU to everyone who came out Friday night to the Jack Cook / Nor-Way Pines night.
The good times started on Thursday evening as the track hosted a celebration of life for Dan Bowne put on by his family. Many nice things were said about our friend Dirtworm Dan. I only knew him for about eight years but he taught me many life lessons in a short time. I mentioned at the event that we would be buying a brick in his honor at the New England Racing Museum. It was good for his family to meet his racing friends and his friends to meet his family. It was a special night for everyone who attended. It did rain a little and I made a Dan type tent with a tarp and cables to try and keep everyone kinda dry. Dan loved Thursday evening rain.
Then came Friday we held the night of racing in honor of Gentleman Jack Cook and this year we added Nor-Way Pines to the memorial because so many wanted to remember more than just Jack as the former racers are getting older and sometimes can be difficult to attend the racing. It was nice to see Jack’s daughter and family and friends that enjoy what we do in his memory. Norman gave a good speech about Jack and Nor-Way Pines as we got ready for the feature races. We had some of Dan’s Wingless Auto Club friends Mark Cole, Danny Burns, Toby and Tyler Stark walk through the stands and take up a collection with their helmets. Thank you those drivers and everyone who donated. The track will match the amount collected from that. I also need to thank KTM Auto Tim Desrosiers and Granite State Micro Sprints for generous donations. Once we catch up from all this we will make a post about the brick and more.
We will also be making a donation to the museum for the Nor-Way Pines Speedway, Through the years with all proceeds from the Nor-Way Pines tshirts we had on sale and still have some available. My mistake not pulling the purple ticket during Friday night’s event. I will post on that in a different post as well.
We also had a local Dorchester resident sing our National Anthem, great job by Hannah Gove. Tyler Stark even got to hoist Dan in Victory Lane. Overall a good couple nights, again THANK YOU ALL from the family of Dan Bowne, Jack Cook and the track.
