Considerations for Low Slot Supinators:
A Low Slot Supinator is a pitcher profile we use to describe an athlete who naturally delivers the ball from a lower arm slot and demonstrates a strong supination bias through the delivery and release.
That combination tends to create a specific pitch-shape profile.
We often see these athletes excel with:
• Running or sinking fastballs
• Running or sinking changeups
• Bigger, slower sliders
• Hard, short sliders
Where they can run into challenges is with pitch shapes that require different movement solutions:
• Larger breaking ball shapes at higher velocities
• Pitches that rely on significant vertical break
That doesn’t mean these pitches are impossible to develop. It means they may require more manipulation and adaptation than shapes that naturally align with the athlete’s movement profile.
If a pitcher can create these challenging shapes from this slot, it can actually be extremely effective and fall into an outlier category.
The goal isn’t to force every pitcher into the same pitch package.
It’s to understand how an athlete naturally moves, identify the shapes that complement that movement, and build a pitch arsenal around what they can consistently execute.
These characteristics help define a more natural pitch package for this type of mover—one that allows the athlete to maximize movement quality, command, and game performance.
Build the arsenal around the athlete. Not the other way around.

More data doesn’t automatically make a player better. Better decisions do.
A data-driven program gives us a way to identify what matters, prioritize the right areas, and measure whether the work is actually creating change.
Because the goal isn’t to simply complete workouts, improve test scores, or collect more data.
The goal is improved performance.
When an athlete improves their physical capacities, movement quality, pitching metrics, and ultimately their game outputs, the individual gets better.
And when individual players get better, the team gets better.
That’s why objective measurement matters. If performance isn’t improving, athletes can spend months—and families can spend thousands of dollars—investing time and money into a program without getting closer to the outcome they actually want.
Every assessment and every training decision has a purpose:
Measure → Identify → Program → Reassess → Improve.
Because the end goal isn’t better training.
It’s better performance on the field. And ultimately more OUTS.

Treat the problem. Not the symptom.
One of the biggest mistakes in pitching development is trying to fix what we see without understanding why we see it.
But what if the athlete physically can’t perform the movement you’re asking them to?
Too often, we treat mechanical compensations as mechanical problems when the root cause may be a limitation in mobility, strength, power, stability, or physical capacity.
Movement is an expression of the athlete’s available options.
If a pitcher lacks the hip mobility to create the positions you want, repeatedly cueing the position isn’t necessarily going to solve the problem.
If they don’t have the strength or stability to control a position, more sequencing drills may simply teach them to compensate differently.
And if they lack the power or physical capacity to produce and redirect force, changing the sequence may address the appearance of the movement without addressing the underlying limitation.
That’s why performance programming is so critical.
Before we decide a pitcher needs to move differently, we need to understand whether they are physically capable of moving that way.
Assess the athlete.
Identify the limitation.
Build the capacity.
Then determine whether a mechanical change is actually necessary.
The goal isn’t to force every pitcher into the same positions or sequence.
It’s to expand the athlete’s physical capabilities so they have more options to express efficient movement.
Don’t coach around the limitation. Build the athlete beyond it.

Mobility.
Biomechanics.
Ball Flight.
Performance.
Arsenal.
Competition.
Each one tells us something about the athlete.
