Begun in 1928 and designed by architects Langford and Moreau, this 18 hole golf course was carefully constructed utilizing the natural topography of the Kettle Moraine. The unique characteristics that define all great golf courses have been deliberately built into WBCC, assuring members the right degree of challenge along with beautiful scenery and superior playability. William Boyce Langford was one of the most prolific course designers in the Midwest during the first half of the 20th Century. He took up the game of golf while recovering from a case of polio in his childhood and later went on to play for Yale on a team that won the NCAA championship three years in a row. This course reflects Langford’s aptitude for the game, sporting striking greens, classic approach angles and dramatic steep sloped, daunting bunkers—all of which might leave you itching to return for better shot and another round.

There are members who belong to a Club, and then there are members who become part of its story.

For West Bend Country Club, Terry Tighe is certainly one of those people.

Terry joined WBCC in 1981 and, 45 years later, you’ll still find him out on the course regularly. At 93 years old, he continues to walk all 18 holes and has a pretty simple explanation for why golf has remained such a big part of his life:

“I don’t fish, I don’t hunt, I golf. It’s my love.”

Spend a little time around Terry and it doesn’t take long to understand why so many people around WBCC know him, enjoy playing with him and, most importantly, enjoy being around him.

He’s a proud member of the Legendary Legends, a group whose motto is fittingly simple: “Show up, pay up, keep up, shut up.” Terry recently played alongside Ronald Spears, Dennis Brugger and John Rozek, giving the foursome a combined 344 years of life experience and more golf stories than we could ever fit into one post.

But Terry’s 45 years at WBCC are about much more than the rounds he’s played.

He has served the Club, supported its caddie program and Evans Scholarship, built countless friendships and helped create the welcoming atmosphere that makes WBCC special.

And it has become a family tradition. Terry and his wife, Vicky, have been married for 65 years, while their son Kelly has now been a WBCC member for 35 years and continues the family’s involvement with the Evans Scholars Program.

Golf has given Terry a lot over the years, but he has given plenty back to West Bend Country Club too.

We’re pretty lucky to call Terry Tighe one of our own.

The Red Team had to earn this one ❤️

32 ladies took on a new 27-hole Solheim Cup format, and after a full day of golf, it still took the final hole to decide a winner.

A fun change of pace and a close finish, with the Red Team coming out on top 🏆
