It’s been a busy summer at Veterans Memorial Arena!

From a complete roof replacement to updates throughout the facility, our arena staff has been hard at work this summer getting everything ready to welcome you back.

We’re excited to announce that Veterans Memorial Arena will reopen Monday, August 31! 🎉

The arena will continue to operate on limited summer hours, so be sure to check the schedule before visiting the arena.

🏆 2026 JAMES F. PADGETT AWARD — ANNOUNCEMENT 🏆
Today, we honor one of the most meaningful recognitions in our industry — the James F. Padgett Award, named after a true pioneer of Minnesota ice arenas.

James “Padge” Padgett was a foundational leader in MIAMA’s early years, serving as Parks & Recreation Director for the City of Virginia and operating the historic Miners Memorial Building. His impact was so profound that in 2015, the City of Virginia renamed the back rink The James Padgett Rink in his honor. Though Padge left us far too soon, his legacy continues to shape our profession.

Each year, this award is presented to an ice arena that exemplifies leadership, innovation, and outstanding contribution to the ice arena industry.

This year’s winner receives:
