405 lbs FOR 3 REPS! 🔥
That's over twice his bodyweight. Huge congratulations to Kevin on this massive rack pull PR!
This milestone means a little extra because Kevin recently hit a brutal training plateau and was battling serious burnout.
To help him break through, the coaching team here at Starting Strength Boston stepped in with a strategy:
⚙️ Dialed back his worksets by 20%
⚙️ Refocused entirely on form, movement mastery, and recovery
⚙️ Systematically built his numbers back up step-by-step
The result? A monster breakthrough and a brand-new lifetime PR. Proof that trusting the process at Starting Strength Boston always pays off. 💪

👑 305 lbs. Absolute milestone

Sarah just crushed a 305 lb back squat PR, officially locking her in as the #5 lifter nationally across all Starting Strength gyms.

If that wasn’t enough, she now completely dominates the Starting Strength Boston women’s leaderboard, holding the #1 spot across the board:

Squat: 305 lbs

Deadlift: 365 lbs

Bench: 170 lbs

Press: 135 lbs

The scariest part? She only started training with us in November 2024. The consistency and sheer effort she brings to the platform every single week is exactly what makes progress like this possible.

Incredible work, Sarah. Huge congratulations from the whole team! 🏋️‍♀️🔥

Big milestones require moving with purpose.
Huge congratulations to Joy for crushing a 98 lb Press PR today! 💥

Joy was a bit reluctant to try for this milestone, but the platform doesn't lie. Her coach noticed she was spending too much time and energy in a long, inefficient setup, leaving her with no gas left for the actual lift.

Today, we changed the game plan: speed up the approach, unrack with intent, stay tight from the get-go, and press. She executed the cue perfectly and absolutely nailed it.

Incredible adjustments, Joy!

Give Dad the Gift of Strength This Father's Day. 🎁💪

As we get older, we naturally lose muscle mass and bone density—but it doesn’t have to be that way. Heavy resistance training is the single most effective way for older adults to stimulate bone growth, protect joints, and maintain independence.

This Father's Day, get Dad started on a program that builds real, functional strength for life.

At Starting Strength Boston, we believe strength is the foundation for overcoming life’s toughest challenges.

Coach Max’s journey to the barbell began long before he stepped onto our coaching floor. A former collegiate hockey player from Toronto, Max credits his recovery from traumatic brain and neck injuries to a relentless commitment to strength training and proper nutrition.

Before dedicating himself to coaching, Max spent over 25 years in Fortune 500 public relations and community wellness. Today, he combines that elite communication background with his deep passion for the Starting Strength method.

Whether you're recovering from an injury or building a foundation for the second half of your life, Max is here to help you get strong, safely and effectively.
