A native Floridian born and raised in Fort Myers, Amy began tumbling and dancing at the early age of six. Throughout her childhood she pursued interests in jazz, tap, gymnastics and cheerleading. By the time Amy reached high school, she was in full-blown competitive cheerleading mode and earned positions on exhibition teams that included both national and international travel. In 1993, upon gradua
ting high school and beginning her undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Central Florida, she received her first fitness certification in STEP Aerobics. It was at this time that she ambitiously chose to pursue dual careers in both Fitness and Mental Health. In 1998, Amy received her personal training certification while at the same time pursuing her masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. After completion of graduate school, she remained in Fort Lauderdale, FL working full-time as a therapist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). She also continued to work part-time teaching group fitness classes and training clients individually. Amy moved to Palm Beach County in 2001 where she continued to work full-time as a therapist and obtained her Florida license. Amy managed the demands of two careers for more than ten years before she made the decision to transition to fitness instruction full-time. The year was 2002 when this decision was carried out, and she began the endeavor by teaching group and private fitness instruction on Palm Beach Island. For the next eight years she continued working on Palm Beach, honing her skills and developing a devoted clientele. In late 2010, she followed her dream to open her own boutique fitness studio, move. Amy owned and operated the boutique fitness studio located in Downtown West Palm Beach for the next five and a half years and made the hard decision to close the location in May 2016. Amy currently freelances and trains her clients at various locations on Palm Beach Island and in West Palm Beach. Having over twenty-three years of experience, Amy Instructs her clients with a very specific and purposeful strategy in order to execute what she does best: scientifically and artfully teach her clients in a way which best achieves their personal fitness goals. Amy firmly believes it's imperative that her clients are not only highly motivated, but also encouraged to laugh while being closely instructed, directed and taught! Amy specializes in Functional, Cardiorespiratory, Strength, Indoor Cycling and STEP aerobics training, and she enjoys using all of these modes with both her personal training and group fitness clients. Amy's favorite method of training, however, uses a variety of small equipment such as bikes, Steps, medicine balls, kettlebells, TRX, bands and free weights. Currently, Amy maintains national certifications in both Group Fitness and Personal Training through The American Council on Exercise (ACE). Some of the areas that Amy consistently reeducates herself with include, Indoor cycling, Strength and Functional, Core and Cardiorespiratory Training. Some of the organizations she has received education from include, The Johnny G Spinning Program, Cycle Reebok, Schwinn Cycling, National Step Aerobics of America, Juan Carlos Santana Functional Training, BOSU, TRX and Polestar Mat Pilates.
