Designers Jerry Pate and Bob Cupp took special care to embrace the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside. The course's 7088 yards are a fair test to golfers of all levels. Each fairway, with its diverse direction and length, creates a different challenge, and the Champion Bermuda Grass greens are meticulously maintained. Lakes and magnificent age old trees welcome each player as the challenge of a new hole is encountered. Southern hospitality is evident on and off the course. Whether learning the basics, or refining one's game, Old Waverly's superb staff of golf professionals can be of assistance. As the best women amateurs in the world compete this week at The Honors Course in Tennessee, we're looking back to another unforgettable chapter in Old Waverly history.

In 2019, Old Waverly proudly hosted the U.S. Women's Amateur, where Australia's Gabi Ruffels captured the championship with a thrilling 1-up victory over Albane Valenzuela to become the first Australian ever to win the title.

It was a remarkable week that showcased incredible competition, southern hospitality, and a course built to test the very best.

Skies worth chasing.

Old Waverly is a dramatic setting on any given day, but especially so when framed by incredible cloud formations overhead. Mississippi’s humid subtropical climate is known for breeding ominous storm clouds and producing spectacular atmospheric optical phenomena.
