Friends of West Point S***t & Trap: an alumnus and longtime supporter of our team has created a private moderated Facebook Group (“Bastogne Boosters”) for friends, family, and alumni to share memories, photos, and updates. Link in comments.

As a closed private group unaffiliated with USMA and the United States Government and not speaking on their behalf, this group is compliant with the recent directive to shutter all official subordinate social media accounts across the Department of Defense.

The present page will be permanently taken offline on Tuesday, March 3.

Last Friday the team was proud to celebrate assistant coach Dan Pcsolyar’s promotion to the rank of major in a ceremony at Range 10. Always the first to grab a snow shovel, lawn mower, or case of targets, “Major P” is the embodiment of selfless service in support of our mission to develop cadet-athletes. Congratulations to Dan and the growing Pcsolyar family!

Mashomack Fish & Game Preserve graciously hosted the Army S***t and Trap Team on 1 FEB 2026 for an unforgettable day afield. We are sincerely grateful for the generosity of the club and its members, whose continued support of the Academy and our program makes experiences like this possible. Mashomack’s commitment to West Point as official sponsors of our team has had a meaningful and lasting impact on us. This visit was especially meaningful, as it followed a visit from Mashomack members to West Point just two weeks prior. The opportunity to share our respective clubs, traditions, and passion for the shooting sports strengthened an already valued relationship and highlighted the mutual respect between our communities.

The 61st Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, LTG Gilland, joined the team and was able to experience firsthand the exceptional experience Mashomack provides. A last-minute transition from a field hunt to a driven pheasant shoot became a highlight of the day and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of our cadets. None of the pheasants harvested on Sunday will go to waste, as they will be enjoyed by members, served in the club’s dining room, and donated to local food banks. Conservancy and ethical sportsmanship remain the core ethics of Mashomack’s distinguished club, and the team was privileged to experience the time-honored traditions of a British-style driven shoot with our hosts.

We extend our sincere thanks to the members and staff of Mashomack for their generosity, flexibility, and continued support. We are truly grateful for this partnership and look forward to many opportunities to continue sharing time, traditions, and sport together.

On January 11, the West Point S***t and Trap Team had the opportunity to travel to and compete at Greenwich Country Club for a 100-target shooting event. The competition featured a diverse and challenging rotation of Modern S***t, American Trap, Wobble Trap, and 5-Stand, allowing shooters to test their technical skill and adaptability across multiple disciplines.

Throughout the day, the event fostered not only high-level competition, but also strong camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants. The challenging courses provided an excellent environment for learning, growth, and performance, making the shoot both rewarding and enjoyable for all involved. Of note, CDT Raj Fanaswala (’28) shot his first perfect score of 25/25 in American Trap, an accomplishment that was celebrated with the traditional hat shoot at the end of the match.

Following the conclusion of the shoot, Greenwich Country Club graciously hosted the team for lunch, providing a warm and welcoming space to reflect on the day’s performances and strengthen relationships. Their hospitality truly enhanced the experience and served as a perfect conclusion to an outstanding event. We are sincerely grateful to Greenwich Country Club for their generosity, support, and commitment to the West Point S***t and Trap Team.

WPST ALUMNI: All of our former team members and friends of the team are eligible to shoot this event and belong to this organization — however many do not know it exists or do not have their email registered with them to receive a survey. The organization is trying to attract more shooters and can only do so with input from those it current does not connect with.

The Armed Forces S***t Association (AFSA) exists to support Active Duty, Retired, and Veteran shooters across our community—and to ensure that the Armed Services S***t Championship remains a premier event that brings us together each year. As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are conducting a short survey to better understand how AFSA can strengthen its programs, grow participation, and make future Championships even more enjoyable and accessible for all shooters.

This weekend, the West Point S***t and Trap Team wrapped up the fall season with its annual Range Closeout — a crucial but often unseen operation that keeps the program running smoothly and the facilities ready for the rigorous months ahead. While there were no targets thrown or scores posted, the effort demanded the same discipline, teamwork, and pride that cadets bring to every competition.

Cadets tackled a full range of maintenance tasks across the facility. Trap houses were restocked with clays, machines were cleaned, serviced, and winterized, and the equipment garage underwent a complete reorganization, from snowblowers to spare parts. The team also conducted a thorough inventory of BERETTA fi****ms, ammo, chokes, and gear, followed by detailed gun and choke cleaning that turned the arms room into a well-oiled operation.

Inside the clubhouse, cadets executed a SAMI-standard deep clean, restoring the kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas to inspection-ready condition. Despite the cold temperatures, morale stayed high as everyone pitched in to leave the range better than they found it.

Though it wasn’t a competition weekend, the closeout highlighted a different side of the team’s excellence — the behind-the-scenes work that keeps West Point S***t and Trap safe, professional, and mission-ready. It was a strong reminder that the team’s success is built not only on marksmanship, but on the dedication and hard work of its cadets, even when no one is keeping score.

We couldn’t me more excited for West Point S***t & Trap Team Armorer Mark Clemons, who has been selected for the highly prestigious Marshall Scholarship! Mark will spend the next two years in the UK studying international relations and African security. In his spare time, he’s excited to get involved in Britain’s vibrant shotgun sport community as well. Well done, Mark!

August is the last month to get your name on this year’s West Point S***t and Trap Team Donor Banner. This 4 x 6 ft banner hangs on the team’s clubhouse throughout the season (and most importantly during our alumni shoot) and features all donors who contributed to the team in the last year.

Last year we had over 100 individual donors and several club / organization donors! Thank you all for your support that allows us to field a 30 person team, complete collegiately, travel nationally, and most of all . . . Beat Navy!
