Lake Washington Sailing Club at the Port of West Sacramento LWSC has a fleet of sailboats and windsurf boards that members can use.

Located at the Port of West Sacramento, Lake Washington Sailing Club is a member-run, volunteer organization of individuals and boat owners interested in small boat sailing and windsurfing. Lake Washington's winds are the most consistent of the Sacramento sailing venues, thanks to the Delta Breeze that brings 8-15 mph thermal winds most days from May to September, with occasional stronger winds. On Monday night Lake Washington Sailing Club completed our second session of Adaptive Sailing Classes. These classes were underwritten with a grant from the Challenged Athletes Foundation - an organization that supports athletes with disabilities and also provides opportunities to explore new sports through collaborations with other groups like our club.

We have provided two Introduction to Sailing Clinics along with the two sessions of class. In total, over three dozen individuals have participated in the clinics and nine went on to complete three weeks of sail training. They have become members of the club and will be sailing with us going forward. Two new members will be representing LWSC at the US National Para Sailing Championships at Coronado YC in late-September.

In a few years, Lake Washington Sailing Club has become one of the most active centers for adaptive sailing in the whole state. Our accomplishments are due to the incredibly hard work and dedication of Kathi Thweatt and Jim Thweatt as well as an army of helpers including Gerhard, Johnathon, Leo, Deb, Diane, Scott, Tim, Jack, Rich, Deb, Arman, Brandon, and many others. Thank you all for your commitment to fulfilling our mission to grow the sport of sailing!

Is this a school, a pod, or a herd of sunfish; or something else?
