WEEK 9 — YOUR THROTTLE ISN'T AN ON/OFF SWITCH

🔧 HORIZON SPEEDWAY TECH TIP

Full throttle!

Brake!

Full throttle!

Brake!

If that's your entire driving strategy, we've found something to work on. 😂

Good oval racing is about controlling the car smoothly.

Learn when to breathe the throttle instead of completely lifting. Learn how the car reacts when entering and exiting the corners.

Every unnecessary correction costs momentum.

The goal isn't to make the car look exciting.

The goal is to make it look easy.

When a really good driver is running well, the car often looks almost boring.

That's because they're smooth.

🏁 Smooth hands. Smooth throttle. Fast laps.

WEEK 8 — FAST LAPS DON'T ALWAYS WIN

🔧 HORIZON SPEEDWAY TECH TIP

Would you rather run one incredible lap...

or twenty consistently good ones?

We'll take consistency.

The quickest driver isn't always the one who wins.

The driver who stays in the groove, avoids unnecessary contact and keeps putting together clean laps can be extremely difficult to beat.

Instead of chasing one heroic lap, work on repeating the same good lap again and again.

🏁 Consistency puts trophies on shelves.

WEEK 7 — STOP TRYING TO WIN ON LAP ONE

🔧 HORIZON SPEEDWAY TECH TIP

Green flag drops...

…and suddenly everybody thinks they're Dale Earnhardt. 😂

Here's the problem:

You can't win the race on the first lap.

But you can absolutely lose it there.

Give yourself room. Learn the traffic. Hit your marks and let the race develop.

The driver who survives the opening laps with a clean race car is usually in a much better position than the driver who tried to pass three cars in the first corner.

🏁 Patience is a racing skill.
