West Springfield Track & Field had a strong showing at the MSTCA WMASS Multi Championships this week.
Emma Nicholson earned 3rd place in the Heptathlon and set two new school records in the 800m and total heptathlon points.
Team results:
• Girls Heptathlon team placed 5th overall (Emma Nicholson, Vanessa Griffin, Karime Pouliot)
• Boys Decathlon team placed 3rd overall (Kymani Bailey, Zach Barrett, Zavier Carter)
Great work by all of our athletes competing across two demanding multi-event competitions.

West Springfield showed up in a big way at the MIAA Meet of Champions at Merrimack College this weekend!
Junior Colton Robinson brought home a state championship, winning both the Boys 100m Wheelchair in a meet-record time of 20.33 and the Boys 400m Wheelchair in 1:13.52.
Senior Nahla Williams earned runner-up in the Girls Varsity Shot Put with a throw of 40’ 9”, also setting a meet record and the new Massachusetts No. 4 mark for 2026.
Congratulations to Colton, Nahla, and the entire West Springfield track & field program for representing our community with pride on the state stage!

West Springfield Girls Track & Field delivered an incredible performance at the WMASS Championships.
Leading the way, Nahla Williams made history as a double WMASS Champion in shot put and discus — the first in program history to achieve this feat.
The team earned a strong 4th place overall finish, highlighted by multiple podium performances:
• 1st: Nahla Williams (Shot Put, Discus)
• 2nd: Morgan Marini (Mile, 2 Mile)
• 3rd: Kelsey Turner (100m)
• 4th: Kelsey Turner (200m), 4x800 Relay (Emma Nicholson, Morgan Marini, Ava, Briana), Karime Pouliot (Hurdles)
• 6th: Emma Nicholson (400m)
• 7th: Abby Clutz (Discus)
• 8th: 4x400 Relay (Mina, Rilee, Karime, Emma)

West Springfield High School Announces Hiring of New Head Football Coach
The West Springfield High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Vinnie Guiel as the next Head Football Coach of the Terriers Football Program.
A 2012 graduate of West Springfield High School, Coach Guiel returns home to lead the program with a strong background in athletics and leadership throughout Western Massachusetts. Guiel brings eight years of head coaching experience and has built a reputation through his extensive involvement in Western Massachusetts athletics. He currently serves as the Head Wrestling Coach at Southwick Regional School and has held various head coaching positions across the region.
Coach Guiel has been selected to succeed retiring Head Football Coach Chad Labonte, who dedicated 21 years of outstanding leadership and service to the West Springfield Football program and school community.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Guiel back to West Springfield,” said the Athletic Department. “His passion for student-athletes, commitment to building strong relationships, and experience leading programs throughout Western Massachusetts made him standout as our choice to lead Terrier Football into its next chapter.”
West Springfield High School looks forward to the future of the football program under Coach Guiel’s leadership and is excited to continue building upon the proud tradition established by Coach Labonte and generations of Terrier athletes.
