GSH Big Fourth 5K 2024 Results

A one-time 5K Run/1 Mile Walk to honor the memory of Thomas Julian, a scientific researcher and academic, who passed away last September following a long battle with a neurological disease.

The proceeds will be donated to research being done at UCONN, where Tom earned his PhD.

For those dreading the end of the Snowstorm races this Saturday, take heart for the Springfield Rescue Centers 5K takes place the following Saturday at Forest Park. A great way to get in some St Pats training and also help a great cause. Looks like they added a 10K this year...

The race starts at the newly refurbished Monkey House. If you have not seen it yet, do check it out.

We bumped up the awards this year.
3 deep for the overall and also 3 in the age groups.
All Awards in FastFeet Bucks
Overall 1st $100, 2nd $75 , 3rd $50
Age Group 1st $25, 2nd $15 , 3rd $10
As always runners have had to compete in at least seven of the ten races to be eligible for an award.

For anyone unable to be at the awards announcement post-race this Saturday, either arrange for another runner to pick for you or send me an email at [email protected].

We were able to bump up the award amounts thanks to our dearly missed friend Brian Goddu's wife, Mary once again returning some of Brian's unspent FastFeet bucks with wishes we give them out the Snowstorm races and also the great turnout this year. We also have a couple sets of Springfield Symphony tickets to raffle off - so do stick around!

Brett Abbott wins his 3rd Snowstorm Classic and Jessica Smith tallies her 9th. Jessica is now sitting 15th on the Hall Of Fame

The Points Series will be reviewed once more for errors and omissions. Official results will be posted by Wednesday. Fast Feet Bucks will be awarded after next week's race. We will go 3 deep overall and 2 deep in each age group with no double dipping.

72 finishers today to move up to 5th for the best season total number of finishers. With one final week to go, we need 101 finishers to come in #2 all-time. So tell all your friends to get out of bed next Saturday morning on get your Snowstorm On!

Sign-up for the Boston Marathon Club bus to Hopkinton opens this Thursday!

The bus is open to all runners who are official entrants in this year's race. The cost will be $55. $45 for Harrier Club members. Details same as in past years and can be found at this link.

Fun Snowstorm Fact #1

Steve O'Neil recently passed 400 finishes and counting. It will be some time before anyone will eclipse this mark.

But when it does happen, it will most likely be Mary Guertin with 324 finishes as of last week. Mary just passed our dearly missed Brian Goddu

Congrats to Nat Larson on setting a new American Men 60+ Age 20KM Road Record (1:12:00 !!!) at the Houston Half Marathon today.

This goes along with Nat's other American M60 Records
- Mile, 5KM, 8KM, 10KM, 12KM, 15KM, 10 Miles, and Half-Marathon.
