🥊 BIG CHANGES COMING TO EMERGE BOXING! 🥋
This is a decision that has taken me a long time to make, but after a lot of thought, I’ve decided that I will be transitioning all kids’ and teens’ classes over to kickboxing.
As much as I love boxing, my heart has always been with kickboxing. It’s where a big part of my martial arts journey began, and it’s something that helped shape the person I am today.
Growing up, martial arts gave me something to work toward. There were goals to achieve, belts to earn, challenges to overcome, and lessons that went far beyond learning how to punch and kick. It taught me discipline, respect, confidence, and the importance of earning what you achieve.
And that’s exactly what I want to give the kids and teens who train with me.
I’ve always believed that kickboxing offers something special for younger students. Having a structured ranking system gives them something to strive for. Every belt represents hard work, dedication, consistency, and progress. Nothing is just handed to them. They have to earn it.
The truth is, I never really lost my love for kickboxing. I stepped away from it because, physically, my ability to kick wasn’t what it used to be. But recently, I’ve been training with a good friend of mine who is a former professional MMA fighter, and little by little, my legs are starting to come back. And with that, so has my passion for teaching kickboxing.
There are still a few things I need to put together before making the transition official, especially when it comes to belt requirements and where my current students will fit into the new program.
There will also be required uniforms and a belt ranking system, which I’ll explain in more detail as everything gets finalized.
I have a feeling most of the kids are going to be pretty excited about this change anyway, so I’m expecting a smooth transition.
For me, this isn’t just about switching from boxing to kickboxing. It’s about giving these kids something they can work toward, something they can be proud of, and something that might have the same positive impact on their lives that martial arts had on mine.
Boxing will always be a part of what I do, but when it comes to teaching the next generation, I truly believe kickboxing is the direction I want to take.
I’m excited to bring this part of my martial arts background back to Emerge and see how far these kids can go.
