The Westborough Board of Health is committed to protecting the health and safety of our community.
In May 2026, the Westborough Board of Health took action to ban the sale of kratom throughout the Town of Westborough in response to growing concerns about the potential health and safety risks associated with Kratom, including reports of overdoses and other serious adverse effects.
In August 2026, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health took statewide action regarding kratom, temporarily placing kratom in Schedule I under Massachusetts law and restricting its sale throughout Massachusetts.
Kratom is a substance derived from the leaves of a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Its active compounds can affect the brain and body, and kratom products have been associated with serious health concerns.
We encourage residents, parents, caregivers, educators, and community members to learn more about kratom and the potential risks associated with its use.

Paving Road Work Notice:
BOWMAN LANE AND BOWMAN STREET PAVING PROJECT

Thursday – August 27th, the Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin paving construction road work in Bowman Lane (from Ruggles Street to Bowman Street) and Bowman Street (from Bowman Lane to Olde Coach Road intersection).

Access into work zone will be permitted to local residents only.

Please plan accordingly, and seek alternative routes via Ruggles Street or Upton Road.
