What if nobody else got to grade your life?
We spend a lot of time measuring success by what can be seen from the outside:
The career.
The house.
The family.
The productivity.
The accomplishments.
But those are only snapshots held in frames.
Friday morning reminded me that success can look much less impressive from the outside.
It can look like answering the phone.
Making room at the table.
Leaving the laundry in piles.
Being available to someone who needs you more than your to-do list does.
From her side of the door, I might have looked completely ready for the day.
From mine, I was just ready for her.
And maybe that counts as success, too.
If nobody else got to grade your life, what would you choose differently?
