I wanted to give a shoutout to Westfield Youth Sports, Inc. softball for a great spring/summer/fall season 🙌🏼

Thank you for being great players, coaches, and spectators and for also supporting my business, E-Love's Garden, when I had my fresh produce stand at the fields 👩🏼‍🌾

20 years of officiating down, not sure how many to go but I love it and don’t see myself quitting anytime soon 🙌🏼

Here are some reminders:

• it’s where the ball crosses the plate that matters for a strike zone, not necessarily the actual batter. When you have a batter way up or way back in the batters box, that strike zone is where the ball is reaching and crossing the plate, not the batter.

• if a hit ball passes a fielder and then hits a base runner, the runner is not out. If the hit ball hits the base runner prior to it passing a fielder, the runner is out.

• when running to first and then running through the bag, there is no rule about whether you turn right or left to go back to the bag. What matters are the steps that are taken towards second base. If there are a few steps taken towards second, then a tag can be made but simply just turning around to the left or right to return to first does not matter. It’s the attempt!

Meet John Capella....one of the coolest umpires I've met.

He's given his time and talents during many games over the years, so I wanted to highlight him today. This picture was taken during last year's Westfield Youth Sports, Inc. Shamrock Shootout tournament, where John helped us out during 2 games.
